Sad News

Rudy has been diagnosed with Lymphoma. He is comfortable for now, but is not eating. We are sad beyond words. We have never dealt with this before and wonder if there is anything we can do to treat this. Please be honest. Any suggestions on how to make him comfortable would be appreciated.

OH Laura, I am so sorry to hear about Rudy. Out-living our fur kids is one of the hardest parts about living with and loving them. It is never long enough. Hugs.

Oh, I'm so sorry.

No recent personal experience, just a friend who lost a Pemmie to it a few years ago and a Sheltie of our own about 22 years agol

I wish I had something wise to offer, but rather I will offer my sadness and deepest sympathies that you have to go through this with Rudy... make him as comfortable and as happy for as long as he may have left.... *hugs*

Poor Rudy! He is getting more than his share of health issues. My first Cardi was diagnosed with a rare (and fortunately slow growing) lymphoma at 14. He had already been on Pred for his back so that helped slow it down. Despite his old age, we opted for chemo (in pill form) which he weathered quite well. It was given every couple of weeks, then once a month, and the cancer went into remission. I can't remember how long a span of time we treated...but he lived on til just short of 17. It was expensive but worth it to us.

Best wishes for Rudy. I am so sorry you have to go through this.

Oh shoot. That's not the news I was waiting to hear. :0( Hopefully there is some type of treatment that can help him without diminishing his quality of life. Sorry that I don't have any experience or suggestions. But no matter how much time he has left, he's been a lucky, lucky boy who was destined for euthanasia at a small Arkansas shelter, and he caught a very lucky break when a sheltie rescuer just 'happened to know' a cardigan person. So Rudy has had the best second chance at life any dog could ever ask for, and you'll do your best for him in this situation also. {{{big hugs}}} heading your way.
