Star

Star and I are just back from the Vet. She weighs in at a whopping 41 pounds with 3 weeks to go. Bless her heart, she is huge and could gain another 5-6 lbs. Poor baby has some uncomfortable days ahead. Star presented us with 9 puppies last litter, so I thinking 8-10 puppies this time. Star free whelped all her puppies (one every 15-20 minutes). The next morning we started losing puppies. She had contracted an e-coli infection in her uterus that infected the pups as they were born. We lost three right away, then another.... and another....until only 4 survived - thanks to a surrogate mom (a pointer!). So I am a little nervous about this litter - hence the Vet visit. Star will begin a regimen of antibiotics and metronidazole next week and stay on this course till the puppies arrive. We go back in two weeks for x-rays to count babies. I will try to get some pictures of her up soon.

Puppy Bump(s)

While Janet and I were off having fun in NYC I got a text from my husband telling me he thought Star was pregnant. These photos were taken this morning - I do believe he is right! Star/Lego puppies should arrive around March 20th!

Packing for home

We are heading home on Amtrak this afternoon & spent the morning packing.  Surprisingly all my WKC souvenirs fit into my bags ( after some serious stuffing).  What a great time we had in the big Apple
Scout left early this morning with Cheryl & will beat us home.

On our way

Janet and I arrived in Atlanta and learned we were riding a bus to catch the train in Greenville, SC.  It seems there was a train derailed.....it is always an adventure when we travel.

Belle's new Mom, etc....

Belle left yesterday morning with her New Family. Here is a shot of "Lillybelle" with her new mom, Debra. She did great on the first leg of trip to Beverly Hills (Michigan). Rosie misses her sister!

Doolittle left yesterday for his trip to NYC. I am leaving in an hour to meet Janet. Then we are off to Atlanta where we will catch the Crescent train on Amtrak to NYC. I am really looking forward to this trip and to be Scout's cheering section at the garden.
We will meet up with Doolittle Sunday night and introduce him to his new family. We will also get to see Ike (AKA: Hoagie) from our Presidential Litter (Doolittle's new big brother).

Busy Week

What a week, We found a home for Belle, we are finalizing plans to get Doolittle to his owner in NYC, and Lego has a girlfriend visiting. Lego will be bred Sue Stockslager's lovely red girl, Totsy (her registered name escapes me but I think it's CH. Aberdovey's Hotsy Totsy). Totsy is a JoJo daughter and we are very exicited about this line breeding. I will be whelping this litter for Sue Stockslager so expect lots of photos.
Lego has been a busy boy this month. It appears that our Star is pregnant. All of the sudden, she has lost her waist. This means I will be whelping my litter with Star around March 20th and four weeks later, I will whelp Totsy for Sue - I must be crazy!
Janet and I are heading to NYC next Saturday to cheer for Scout. Now if I could only find a spare ticket to Westminster.....

Belle

Sweet Belle has a home! She will be going to live in Beverly Hills (that's Beverly Hills, Michigan) with Debra and Roger. Debra is a Special Ed teacher and Belle will be entering into the therapy dog arena to work with her students. Isn't it wonderful how well Cardigans do at therapy. Her new Mom is also going to take a stab at running agility! Cardigans can do it all - confirmation, herding, agility, obedience, rally, tracking, therapy dogs, reading dogs, lure coursing......the list just keeps growing.
