Saying Goodbye.

Our sweet Maggie May, age 12 1/2, crossed the rainbow bridge last Friday.  Maggie was my husband's dream dog.  She came to us 3 days after we lost our 16 yr. old Norwegian elkhound, Zack.  We weren't ready for another dog, but Rick's son saw it differently.  Maggie filled a large hole in our lives and set things in motion towards our first Cardigan.  I caught the show bug while taking Maggie to obedience classes and the rest is history.  Maggie was a true Frisbee dog.  She lived for the chase.  She was the matriarch of our crew and took on each cardigan as her own.  Maggie developed spondilosis about 3 years ago.  The pain was too much for her and we helped her cross the bridge Friday afternoon.  She is pain free now and chasing frisbees with Zack and Rudy.
We also learned last week that our first bred by - Star - has aggressive lymphoma.  She will join Maggie at the bridge soon.

New Champion

We had a great time in Chattanooga last weekend. On Saturday Rosie was WB, BOW, BBE for a 4 point major under Judge Sam McDonald and finished her championship! My 6 month old Puppy, TJ was reserve WB - not bad for the first time in the ring.

Janet Suber hosted a great brunch at the show site and we celebrated with Mimosas and Bloody Marys!

On Sunday, TJ went WB and BOW for a 4 point major under Judge Thomas Kilcullen! The Judge told me he wanted to take TJ home with him!

I don't have the pictures from Chattanooga yet, but here is Rosie's major win in Atlanta the weekend before.

Lexington

Rosie and I had a Great time in Lexington.  Rosie went WB on Friday to what I thought was a 3 pt. Major.  Sadly, it turned out one bitch was absent.  She won the bred-by class on Saturday and then took reserve to Lowrie....a 5 point major.  We had a wonderful pot luck after we showed and caught up with old friends.  Now we continue out search for that list, elusive major.

Atlanta

Rosie took WB and BOW today in Atlanta under Judge Linda Robey. It was a long 4 day weekend but this made it all worthwhile, even the crappy hotel bed and the parking ticket I got! Stay tuned for pictures!

Betty Smith and Janet Suber's boy, Tommy, got two 4 point majors this weekend as well! Mama Scout was really proud of her baby!

G.R.I.T.S.

Look who decided to come back to Tennessee, Yes, TJ decided that she was born in the South and she wanted to be a "Girl Raised In The South" (G.R.I.T.S.)

Jill, who is modeling her "Nekked as a J-Bird" look, (no, I did not shave her butt), is really happy to see her baby came home.

Speaking of Birds -

This little blue bird came to greet the Lyberty gang as well!

My new job is both exciting and overwhelming. I knew being a manager would be challenging....I had no idea. I hope to get back to blogging on a regular basis soon!!!

Carol and Frank Richardson along with their sweet girls, Sarah & Emily (Norman's family) came to visit the puppies yesterday. Carol is re-launching her career as a professional photographer. She brought along all her equipment and took several pictures of the puppies. Stay tuned for more of Carol's wonderful photographs.

We have decided to keep Alice whose official name will be Lyberty's Crystal Blue Persuasion, call name: T.J. This song is one of my personal favorites and I have caught myself singing it ever since we decided on the name. Can anyone guess where the call name came from?
*
I originally planned to have a puppy party on April 16th with Shirley flying down for the celebration. As often happens, our plans changed. Janet and I are now driving the puppies to Maryland on April 15th for a long weekend. Also making the trip will be Janet's gang (Sally, Scout & Spencer), my Rosie and Shirley's Amber. Should prove to be an interesting drive to say the least....

If you live in the Maryland/Washington D.C. area and would like to join us for a crab dinner or a puppy fix, let me know!
